About me:

I'm a student in my early 20's trying to get an economics degree at the moment. It's not going too well but fingers crossed. I also work in IT specialising in C#, .net and SharePoint.

Recently I've been working on a couple of windows mobile application that are either published or on the way to being published. I got tired of not having a few key features on windows mobile that I felt I could program so I did my best and made a few.

I also offer support and advice for small businesses with a focus on reliable and sustainable IT solutions. Ranging from backup solutions to webdesign.

BBC News Update
Reply #8 on : Sun September 05, 2010, 11:31:49
Spent today working on an update for the BBCNews App. Unfortunately some of the BBC's RSS feeds aren't strictly well formed which was causing some issues with certain feeds. This next update will address this problem.

While playing around I decided that it was time to add a new features. When I was up in London this week I spent a lot of time on the tube and realised there was no way to force the app to cache items in advance of going underground. So on that note there is now a "Download News" which allows you to cache an entire feed to read it when your out of signal on the tube/train. The feature will be released as a beta with the new update which should come sometime next week. Let me know if you have any problems with it or suggestions.

I also took another look at the performance issues that some have been facing with the App. I have been working on rewriting the way the app handles images and think I have finally hit a sweet spot for performance. This will also be rolling out with the new update.

A quick update for the wikiapp to allow browsing in app. This feature is still in beta and so has to be enabled on the settings page.

Would love to hear your feedback.

TrainTimes v1.5

So this has been a lot of work but I have completely revamped the UI. Unfortunately it's been an evening and weekends thing as I'm now working full time but I'm really happy with the result.

This isn't a final version of the new interface and is a semi-beta which I plan on improving more in the future.

As ever I would be really interested to hear your feedback on the update which should be available through the marketplace in the next few days.

*NEW* Updates available for TrainTimes and MobileMoves

Just a quick update:

I have just published a new version of the TrainTimes app which includes detailed information about each live departure service. This info includes the Stations the service will be calling at and the operator.

I am also working on updating the Mobile Movies application to allow you to watch trailers. Unfortunately it's not been easy but I will keep on trying. As well as this I am also adding a "I would like to watch" list that you can add films to to that you find.

WikiApp is also getting some attention with the new Browse in app feature starting to take shape. Auto-complete on the texbox is taking a little more work but hopefully it will happen in time for the next update.

Facebook Chat App is currently on hold with all the other work going on.

Well that's about it. Any feature requests or queries email me info[at]grippers.co.uk
